In September of 2009, after a few unexpected life turns, we started planning this project. Restless with our current positions in our respective lives, we set out to see what would happen if we used the power of social media to enable an exploration of North America.

The Mexican Restaurant Association will turn the Jupiter Hotel’s outdoor courtyard into a Mexican Fiesta with the second annual Sabor a Mexico, or Taste of Mexico, on Thursday, July 29th. A benefit for the Institute for Mexicans Abroad’s Educational Fellowship Program, Sabor a Mexico will feature Star Chefs’ “Rising Star” award winning Mixologist Junior Merino, also known as “The Liquid Chef.”

Pants-Off Dance-Off Presents Homo’s Got Talent

After the flurry of gayness that composed last month’s Pride festivities, the queer community is all rested up and ready to roll out a roster of events for the rest of summer. On Saturday, July 31, Pants Off Productions brings you the second annual Homo’s Got Talent Dance-Off Competition at the Jupiter Hotel Courtyard.

There can be only one Top Homo Dancer, and registered acts from all over the city will compete for the title and prizes. America’s Got Talent may have already eliminated both its Portland contestants, but local homos are still duking it out on the dance floor while emcee Max Voltage and celebrity judges preside over it all. Elton, Sisters and Bears, Oh My! - Byron Beck's Blog

On Saturday night, at the Jupiter Hotel, the Oregon Bears hosted an "Elton John Tribute Night" to benefit Basic Rights Oregon and the Q Center featuring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and about 10 different bands, including the always entertaining Sneakin' Out. Straight frat-looking-boys locked arms with drag queens who locked arms with bears who locked arms with hippie-girls as they all sang such songs as Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Daniel and other Elton John classics. It was a weird/kooky/incredibly entertaining night. Sir Elton would have loved it.
