Award-winning dining experiences you can walk to

Walk, bike, or scoot to some of the city's best eats

After a weekend in Portland and you’ll notice two things:

  1. The food scene in the city is next-level; and
  2. There are two distinct food scenes in Portland.

Not only are many of our food trucks and casual fare world-famous, upscale options since 2020 have been absolutely thriving. How do we know? Because we’ve been winning awards around here left and right. And if you’re crashing with us, a lot of them are just a short walk (or summer bike ride) away!

Here’s your walking tour itinerary for some of the best-rated eats this city has to offer:

Ken’s Artisan Pizza

In June 2023 Ken’s was judged 3rd place among the 50 best pizzerias in the United States by Italy’s Top 50 Pizza organization. Not only that, this super-walkable spot was the only pizzeria in 2023 to receive a “Green Oven” award for its commitment to sustainability, so you won’t just be eating good, you’ll be eating good.

Staff pick: Give the Soppressata a try: the spicy Calabrese salami with basil is *chef’s kiss*

Ken's Artisan Pizza

304 SE 28th Ave, Portland, OR 97214 (7 minutes by bike!)

Berlu

If you’re adventurous, you’re in the right place. Berlu (“bear-loo”) is the brainchild of Vince Nguyen, who was awarded the 2023 James Beard Award for Best Chef in Northwest and Pacific US. Nguyen has something of a cult following for his bold personality and even bolder culinary expressions. You can expect some creative departures from classic Vietnamese meals, but other than that…expect to be surprised! Berlu is celiac-friendly with vegan options as well.

If you’re looking to try something out of the ordinary, add Berlu to your itinerary. Just a ten-minute walk or 4-minute bike ride and you’re there!

Berlu

605 SE Belmont Street, OR 97214

Kann

We’ve talked about Kann before and we’ll talk about it again; this renowned Haitian haunt is the creation of chef Gregory Gourdet and one of the most sought-after reservations in town. In fact, Kann won the 2023 James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant - the very first Portland establishment to earn that title!

Kann

227 SE 6th Ave, Portland, OR 97214

Sousòl

No table at Kann? No problem; you can still grab a seat at Sousòl, a speakeasy-style bar situated just underneath Kann (and serving a few of Kann’s appetizers.)

But make no mistake; this bar stands on its own two feet, with creative cocktails that suit every taste. Grab a cozy booth with your friends and drink the night away. You can stumble home to Jupiter in five minutes or less!

Staff pick: The Tamaren Tounen is a tangy tequila cocktail that tastes like summer. Pairs beautifully with their curried chickpeas.

Sousòl

227 SE 6th Ave, Portland, OR 97214

And this is just the 2023 winners! Car or no car, you’ll never go hungry in Southeast Portland. When your belly’s full and you’re ready to pass out, rest (and digest) with us at Jupiter.
