We're huge fans of our across-the-street neighbors at the 811 E Burnside Shops, featuring stalwart retail spots like Redux and xobruno, and new additions like Coy & Co Flowers, OURstore Vintage, and a new Local Hookups partner of ours, fashion designer Ale O Moda! Ale's work was featured this past winter in a fashion show held at Jupiter NEXT, and since then, we've been obsessed with her earthy-and-cool, sustainable, and timeless pieces like those in her "Two Souls" collection shown at the hotel. Check our Local Hookups page for all the amazing discounts available when you pop over to these shops for a little afternoon pick-me-up.

On the next block over from the 811 shops, we have even more gloriously Portland-esque spots for you to peruse, like the women-owned eclectic boutique OKO. The warm and cozy OKO sells new jewelry by Portland designers, art, a small selection of magical skincare potions, books, and a variety of antiques and found objects. Basically, you'll have your souvenir shopping covered in this one-stop shop that leans heavily into the very bohemian vibe of the items it vends.

Chef Heather Kintler is known for turning culinary heads. Her menu, designed for restaurant Normandie, a block away from Jupiter NEXT, includes pork rillettes with smoked date jam, charred octopus with chorizo and peaches, not to mention steamed mussels with bouillabaisse broth and ’nduja aioli. It just doesn't get better than this. Did someone say date night? Flash your Jupiter Hotel key card for a discount, too!

Located directly adjacent to the Pink Panther Tattoo shop, owner Sarah Inloes works as a one-two punch with her husband, who runs said tattoo shop, to offer the other half a chance at happiness. As she told us once, "He puts them on, I take them off!" With new offerings like Fibroblast skin lifts, and facials with names like "I am Baby" dermaplaning, Sarah's alt spa will offer whatever you're looking for, and she's created a welcoming atmosphere that even the most socially self-conscious can't ignore.
